Blackpool Overcome Stockport County with a 2-1 Victory
Blackpool boss Ian Evatt has dismissed any talk of Tom Bloxham not being a striker after an impressive display against Stockport County. The 22-year-old scored the opening goal in the 2-1 victory at Edgeley Park.
Why it Matters for Blackpool
The win was a much-needed boost for Blackpool, who are currently 43 points behind leaders Lincoln in the League One title race. With 54 goals scored and 65 conceded this season, the Tangerines are looking to build on their recent form, which has seen them win their last five games.
Evatt has praised Bloxham's performance, saying that he has the natural instincts of a striker. The 22-year-old initially joined Blackpool as a winger at the beginning of 2025, but has since developed into a key player in the attacking department. With injuries in the attacking department over the past nine months, Bloxham has been forced to adapt to a new role, but has taken to it like a fish to water.
Ian Evatt's Verdict
"I won't have anyone tell me otherwise - that he's not a striker," Evatt said. "That was predatory with the movement in behind and then a really good finish. He has that in his locker. He's a good finisher, and a good crosser of the ball."
