Blackpool's League One season is underway, and the team is looking to make a strong impression. The Seasiders head coach, Ian Evatt, has the backing of former Premier League manager Tony Pulis, who believes Evatt can strike the right balance between winning and entertainment. Pulis, who managed Stoke City and West Brom in England's top flight, states that the challenge for all coaches is to both entertain and achieve their goals.
"The change of manager in the lower leagues always creates a real spark and excites the crowd, the supporters, and everyone around the club," Pulis said. "The most important thing now for Blackpool is simply to win football matches. Managers have got to recognise that they are ultimately in the winning business."
Pulis also praised Evatt's experience in management, saying, "Ian has had good experience in management at Barrow and Bolton, so he understands the realities of managing in the Football League. You have got to put winning first, get the results on the board, and then follow it up with a bit of style and entertainment once you have built that winning culture."
Blackpool is currently 13th in the League One table, with 60 points from 46 games, and a recent form of WWWWL. They have scored 54 goals and conceded 65, with a goal difference of -11. They are 43 points behind leaders Lincoln and are looking to make a strong push for promotion.
