Blackpool police have seized an illegal e-bike after a disqualified rider was caught speeding on Broadway. PC 6523 Mason was on mobile patrol when he spotted the rider, who was not pedaling at the time and was clearly not using a standard pedal-assist cycle. The e-bike was stopped and checks quickly confirmed it was not road legal. Further enquiries revealed the rider was already disqualified from driving, adding to the seriousness of the incident. The bike was immediately seized, and the rider was reported for driving whilst disqualified and no insurance. A spokesman from Fleetwood Police said: 'The rider wasn't a professional cyclist and certainly wasn't pedaling. The bike was stopped and surprisingly the E-Bike wasn't legal. To make matters worse the rider was disqualified from driving.' Police have reminded the public to ensure any e-bike purchased or used on public roads complies fully with UK legal requirements, including speed and power limits, to avoid prosecution and vehicle seizure.
