Leicester City Interest in Blackpool's Goalkeeper Grows
Background on Franco Ravizzoli
Blackpool’s backup goalkeeper, Franco Ravizzoli, has been linked with a potential move away from Bloomfield Road. The Argentinian, who turned 29 this year, initially joined the Seasiders last summer as a free agent after spending two seasons at Wycombe Wanderers.
Ravizzoli was expected to compete for the first-choice spot between the posts but mainly found himself as a back-up to Bailey Peacock-Farrell. He made just eight appearances in the previous season, which was challenging according to his own admission.
Recent Developments and Player's Perspective
In an interview with the Gazette last month, Ravizzoli spoke about his first year at Blackpool. He emphasized that his goal remains unchanged: to try his best every day and earn a fair chance to be the number one goalkeeper.
"My goal doesn’t change no matter what," he said. "I spoke to the gaffer, and he knows that I’m going to try my best every day - I think I showed that last season as well. He knows I just want a fair fight, and (decide on) who is playing best.
It was hard last season, I’m not going to lie. It was for all of us, but especially for me because I didn’t get to play much."
Despite the limited opportunities, Ravizzoli managed to stay fit and positive throughout the season. He expressed his determination to prepare himself well for the new season, aiming to push Bailey Peacock-Farrell for the number one shirt.
Leicester City's Interest
Alan Nixon reports that Leicester City is now showing interest in Ravizzoli. The player has previous experience working under manager Russell Martin at MK Dons, which could be a factor in his potential move to the Foxes. While Blackpool will likely miss their backup goalkeeper, the opportunity for a new challenge and more playing time at Leicester City cannot be overlooked.
